How we calculate Steam exchange rates
stm.gift is an independent project for comparing Steam currencies and exploring their history. We do not represent Valve or set Steam prices or exchange rates.
Where the observations come from
New observations compare the local-currency and USD representations of a Steam wallet. Past dates use archived observations. Each value retains its observation time.
This is a calculation from available Steam data, not a bank quote. Account details and wallet balances are not published.
Reading a currency pair
The chart shows units of the selected region’s currency per 1 comparison-currency unit. For example, Kazakhstan with RUB as the base shows how many KZT correspond to 1 RUB.
Cross rates use USD: KZT per 1 RUB = KZT per 1 USD divided by RUB per 1 USD. Use the reciprocal for the reverse direction. Comparing a currency with itself gives 1.
Updates and daily history
Collection is scheduled every 6 hours by default, with an additional run at 00:15 Moscow time. The page shows the actual observation time; a schedule does not guarantee every Steam request succeeds.
Daily history uses Moscow time, UTC+3, and the last available observation of each day. Historical pairs match both currencies on the same day. Missing days are not filled using today’s rates.
Precision and stale observations
New Steam observations are stored to four decimal places, and cross rates use decimal arithmetic. Displayed numbers are rounded for readability, so reversing a displayed value may give a slightly different result.
Observations older than 14 hours are marked as stale. A pair is only as fresh as its older source observation. Collection failures preserve the existing archive.
What the calculation does not include
Payment-provider fees, provider exchange rates and deposit rounding are not included. Check the amount offered by the service before making a deposit.
Publishers set game prices. Wallet ratios do not determine every game’s price, its discount or a guaranteed deposit amount.
